Your Captain Rangefinder works right out of the box — no app, no account, no subscription needed for basic laser ranging. Here's exactly what each mode gives you.
Tour Mode (no app required)
Out of the box, your Captain is in Tour Mode. Everything in this mode works with zero setup:
- Laser distance to your target (flag, hazard, tree, etc.)
- Slope-adjusted distance (Captain Pro: hold Action Button 3 seconds to toggle Slope ON; Captain Air: use the physical Slope Switch)
- Yards or meters display
- Brightness adjustment
You don't need your phone nearby. This is tournament-legal mode when Slope is OFF.
Connected Mode (free Blue Tees Game App required)
Download the free Blue Tees Game App and pair your Captain to unlock GPS-powered features during a round:
- Hole number on the rangefinder display
- Front / Center / Back distances
- Basic round play support
Note: Slope must be ON to display connected app data. When Slope is OFF, the rangefinder enters tournament-legal mode and connected data will not display — this is expected behavior, not a malfunction.
Premium Features (subscription required)
An active Blue Tees Game App subscription unlocks additional data views on your Captain's display:
- True Distance™ (plays-like yardage adjusted for elevation and conditions)
- Club recommendations based on your bag distances
- Additional app-powered data screens
