Player Pro Sound Issues: Muffled Audio, Bass Distortion, or StaticUpdated 15 days ago

Check your EQ mode first

Player Pro has two sound profiles — Indoor and Outdoor — and the wrong one is a common cause of muffled or thin-sounding audio.

  • Outdoor Mode is optimized for open-air golf course use with greater projection. Use this on the course.
  • Indoor Mode is tuned for enclosed spaces at lower volumes.

To switch: double-press the Play/Pause button. The speaker will toggle between Indoor and Outdoor EQ. If you're on the course and audio sounds flat or muffled, switching to Outdoor Mode often resolves it immediately.

Distorted or blown-sounding bass

Player Pro is engineered for outdoor projection and uses a 360° acoustic design. At very high volumes — especially indoors or in enclosed spaces — bass can become distorted. This is not a defect. Try:

  • Reducing volume by 10–20% to see if distortion clears. The speaker performs best at 60–80% volume in most conditions.
  • Switching to Indoor EQ if you're in an enclosed space — it has a flatter, more balanced bass response.
  • Adjusting EQ or bass settings in your phone's music app. The speaker doesn't have internal EQ controls, but boosting bass from your phone source can cause distortion at the speaker level.

If bass sounds distorted even at moderate volumes (below 60%) and the issue persists across different EQ modes and volume levels, this may indicate a hardware issue.

Static or crackling sound

Static or crackling is usually a Bluetooth or connection issue, not a speaker defect:

  1. Check your Bluetooth distance. Move your phone closer to the speaker. Player Pro has two Bluetooth connections — Player Pro Audio (music) and Player Pro (GPS). If one drops, audio can break up.
  2. Remove other Bluetooth interference. Other nearby Bluetooth devices can cause static. Try turning off other paired devices and reconnecting.
  3. Forget and re-pair. On your phone, go to Bluetooth settings, remove both "Player Pro" and "Player Pro Audio," then re-pair from scratch.
  4. Restart both devices. Power off the Player Pro fully, restart your phone, then reconnect.
  5. Check the audio source. If streaming, a weak Wi-Fi or cell signal can cause the music stream to break up, which sounds like speaker static. Try playing a locally saved track to isolate the issue.

Speaker sounds quiet even at full volume

  • Confirm you're in Outdoor EQ mode — Indoor mode is intentionally lower in volume and projection.
  • Check that your phone's volume is also at maximum, not just the speaker volume.
  • If using a streaming service, some apps apply their own volume limits. Check the app's settings.
  • For yardage announcements specifically: confirm Scout AI or audible announcements are enabled in the GAME app's Device Settings.

No sound at all

  1. Confirm "Player Pro Audio" appears as a connected Bluetooth device on your phone (not just "Player Pro").
  2. Check your phone isn't routing audio to a different output (headphones, car speaker, etc.).
  3. Power cycle the speaker fully — hold the power button for 5 seconds to turn off, then back on.
  4. If the speaker turns on (screen lights up) but produces no audio at all, contact us — this is likely a hardware issue.

Still having issues?

If you've worked through the steps above and sound quality remains poor across different sources, volumes, and EQ modes, the speaker may have a hardware defect covered under the 2-year warranty. Contact us at [email protected] with a description of the issue, a short video or audio clip if possible, and your proof of purchase.
