How do I charge my Ringer Handheld GPS?Updated a month ago
This device is powered by a built-in lithium-ion battery that can be charged using any standard USB port on your laptop/computer or an AC adapter.
Note: This device will not charge/operate outside of the approved temperature range (see page 23 of the user manual).
- Locate the USB-C charging port on the device.
- Insert the small end (USB-C) of the provided charging cable into the USB-C input port.
- Insert the large end (USB-A) of the provided charging cable into an external power source, such as a wall adapter (min. 5V/2A).
- Leave plugged in for 2–3 hours or until the device shows 100%.
Note: Battery levels display in intervals only: LOW, 10%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. The indicator may appear to be stuck between levels — this is normal. It will jump to the next level once enough charge has accumulated.
Ringer stops charging at 25%, 50%, or 75%?
Because the battery indicator updates in steps, the Ringer can appear stuck at a percentage when it's actually still charging. Before assuming a fault, try the following:
- Let it charge to completion before checking again. Leave the Ringer plugged in for a full 3 hours, then check. The display updates in steps, so you may not see movement for a while even when charging is actively happening.
- Try a different charging cable. Use a known-good USB-C cable. Faulty or low-quality cables are the most common cause of stalled charging.
- Try a wall adapter instead of a laptop port. Plug into a wall adapter (5V, at least 2A). Laptop USB ports often don't provide enough current and can cause slow or incomplete charging.
- Check the charging port for debris. Inspect the USB-C port for dust or lint and clear it gently with a dry toothpick or compressed air.
- Drain and recharge. If the battery seems genuinely stuck, let the Ringer run down completely until it powers off, then charge from zero to full without interruption. This can help recalibrate the battery indicator.
Ringer won't charge at all
If no charging indicator appears when plugged in:
- Confirm the cable is fully seated in both the Ringer port and the power adapter.
- Try a different cable and wall adapter combination.
- Check the port for damage or debris.
- Leave it plugged in for 15–20 minutes — if the battery is fully depleted, it may take a few minutes before the charging indicator appears.
Still having issues?
If none of the above resolves the problem, your Ringer may have a hardware issue covered under your 2-year manufacturer warranty. Contact us at [email protected] with:
- A description of the issue (stops at what percentage, won't charge at all, etc.)
- What cables and power sources you've tried
- Your proof of purchase
We'll troubleshoot further and arrange a replacement if needed.
