Find My Captain Rangefinder: how it worksUpdated 22 days ago
Applies to: Captain Pro + Captain Air
The Find My feature in the Blue Tees Game App helps you locate your Captain Rangefinder when you've misplaced it — for example, left it in a cart or set it down on the course.
How it actually works
Find My works over Bluetooth, not GPS. When you tap Find My in the app, it sends a signal to your Captain telling it to play an audible tone. This only works when your Captain is:
- Powered on
- Within Bluetooth range of your phone (typically 30–50 feet / 10–15 meters)
It is not live GPS tracking. If your Captain is out of Bluetooth range, or powered off, the feature won't be able to trigger the sound.
How to use it
- Open the Blue Tees Game App.
- Navigate to Device Settings for your Captain.
- Tap Find My Device (or Play Sound).
- Listen for the audible alert from your rangefinder.
- Walk toward the sound to locate it.
Tips for getting the best results
- Stay within 50 feet of where you think you left it — Bluetooth range limits how far the signal can reach.
- Keep your phone's Bluetooth on and connected to the Game App before you lose track of the device, since re-pairing mid-round adds a step.
- If the device is in a bag or under something, the sound may be muffled — check compartments nearby if you hear it faintly.
Find My isn't working?
- Confirm the Captain is powered on — if it powered off after being left idle, Find My cannot reach it.
- Make sure your phone is still Bluetooth connected to the Captain in the Game App. If the connection was dropped, reconnect first.
- Move closer to where you last had it and try again.
